WOMAN IN ADVENTURE SPORT PROGRAMME
WIAS is a network of skydiving women and men, committed to building the participation and retention of women, through skill-building and inclusion.
The Australian Parachute Federation have developed and have on offer the WIAS Mentor Program which is designed to help guide female skydivers tackle the world of skydiving. It is a free and completely confidential program that involves a more experienced person helping a newer person identify and pursue their skydiving goals.
Every state around the nation has a female WIAS representative. You may or may not know South Australia’s representative, Tiarne Easley.

WIAS MENTOR PROGRAM
WHATS IT ALL ABOUT?
The WIAS Mentor Program follows the concept of turning to an experienced friend or colleague for advice, especially when we’re learning something new or facing a challenge, in a more structured way, and can help you get on the right pathway to achieve your goals – whatever level you’re currently at! It is a free and completely confidential program that involves a more experienced person helping a newer person identify and pursue their skydiving goals.
WHAT CAN IT BE USED FOR?
It’s all about making time to focus on your personal future in skydiving.
Mentees can seek advice, set and achieve goals, set strategic goals for specific disciplines and establish opportunities for network with experiences mentors and other skydivers.
WHOS THE PROGRAM FOR?
The program is open to any female skydiver who has an A license or above and wants help getting on the right pathway to achieve their goals.
More experienced skydivers can benefit from this program by setting strategic goals within specific disciplines. (Separate to coaching – this mentorship is a support and goal setting relationship).
You do not have to be female to support this program and become a mentor, as WIAS is an inclusive community of skydivers that aims to:

Encourage women in skydiving to achieve respected roles in leadership, instruction, coaching and competition.

Here in South Australia we have a small community of women who are involved in some way or another in the sport we love. Whether that be past and present skydivers and all the beloved partners, friends and family, and ground crew of those in the sport.
There is a new private Facebook group South Australia Women in Adventure Sport for the all the women in our community of skydiving. It is aimed at bringing women in skydiving together; to allow the free flowing of discussion and to help increase female participation in the sport we love. To keep up to date with any news, events and highlights in the State or if you have any questions or topics of discussion you’d like to ask the women in the community feel free to post in the group.
